She Knows What She Wants

Well I don't have any pictures to post at the moment because I'm not at home, but I wanted to write a little about the newest developments we are experiencing...

Do you all remember the sweet, even tempered child that once was? Well she is still sweet. But rather than even tempered, I would lean more towards mild-to-moderate tempered!
Libby has always known what she wants, and has always been determined to get it.  Even if that means climbing up doggy steps to get cell phone or crawling on top of a tiny baby or underneath a bouncing baby in an exersaucer - she is going to get it! And I love that about her - She has no fear...which I know is because she has no understanding of the concept of danger or consequences...but I still love it - she is not a timid child. So these days are consistantly filled with constantly watching over her. No more leaving her in the living room while I go down to do laundry or anything more than 12 steps away because trust me, she will find SOMETHING to get into!!

As far as her temperament goes, well let's just say she found her voice. She can scream - we all know that - but now it's not just screaming for fun, it's screaming to twist mama and daddy's heart into giving in to her every want and need. But mostly want, because she always has what she needs :) If you walk by her and don't pick her up when she wants picked up she puts her face on the ground and yells. If you tie her down in the high chair and she doesn't want to be tied down she screams at you. If you take something important away from her, she screams at you. If you try to get her dressed/undressed and she wants to play, she screams at you. Are you getting this?? Do you see what's happening here?? She is getting too big and too smart! She is learning about manipulation (and I hate that word because it sounds negative, but that's what babies do). She is searching for what makes us give in to her.
She is going to have to keep trying....screaming doesn't bother me....maybe if there are real tears and a pouty lip, but not just plain old screaming!! I've got too much patience for that :)

She is really still a very sweet girl, though, even amongst all the screaming. She is learning to cuddle (when she's not too busy) and she is happy to see us when she wakes up and when I pick her up from daycare and when she spots us around the corner in the kitchen or bathroom or wherever - always full of sweet sweet smiles. She gives slobbery open-mouth licky kisses on the cheek and laughs when the dogs run around her. She loves the breeze on her face and the sun when it shines. She loves bathtime and rubber duckies and splashing around. Olivia loves life and she is just trying to figure out how to get the best of the world into her hands...and I love her for that!

Big Girl's Don't Cry...They CRAWL!

Last night she figured it out. She is actually crawling on all fours - no more scootin' - that's for little kids!

UV Protection

Today is super-duper nice outside and while we were out and about, Josh decided he wanted to get Olivia some sunglasses. Let me tell you - they are too darn cute!! They even have a strap to hold them on her head and we got her a matching sunhat. Then we went home and played outside while daddy washed his car.
Just take a look at the pictures and the video below of our Saturday afternoon...

1st Easter

Last weekend was Libby's first Easter. We went up North to see the families and we had a blast!! We got lots of pics at Grandma Sandy and Grandpa Den's but our battery died and we didn't bring the charger so I can't post any of Grandma Nae and G-pa's house or any of Easter day until my parents send me some (hint-hint).

It was great to see everyone - It had been way too long! The Easter Bunny brought Libby a cell phone, a rattle and some rice puffs...she was really only interested in the cannister the puffs came in - of course!

6 Month Photography

Since Miss Olivia is going to be 6 months old in 4 days we had her pictures taken at JC Penny today! It was so much fun - we did family pictures and then 2 sittings of just her with her Easter dress from Grandma Nae on in some and her Hawkeye cheerleading dress from Jess in the others. So darn cute!

She sat all by herself - We never had to hold her up or anything! She's such a big girl, people! I will post a link to them as soon as they send it to me, so check back soon :)

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Busy LibBEE

It has been a whirlwind the past couple of weeks. Olivia is on such a learning streak! She is still working on perfecting her scoot/crawl moves, she is figuring out how to sit on her own and she is still busy talking, squeeling and growling.
She is becoming a handful at daycare scooting around and getting into everything :) She is starting to interact with other babies - she follows them around and climbs on them and talks to them. It's super cute to watch.
She is trying new food - the list so far is carrots, avacado, acorn squash and peas. And bananas, of course.
Dinner time has become naked time, too! Until this week, she sat in her high chair and ate her food. This week, she is putting her hands in her mouth trying to  "feed" herself and then rubbing her belly, her face, her hair and anything else she can get her hands on - it is quite the mess!

I guess that's all the new news we have going on around here. Josh and I are really enjoying spending time with her; spending time with our family. These are the best days of our life and it's only going to get better.

Peek-A-Boo

We were hanging out in the kitchen this afternoon and Libbs was playing on a little play mat thingy. She was haveg herself a great time rolling and scooting around. Josh and I stepped into the other room for a quick minute to look at something. When we turned around, this is what we saw:

She must have grabbed the edge of the mat and rolled with it....It was hilarious!!  I made the video from 3 pictures Josh took of the event. She is so much fun - I am sure I've said that before :)
